Heat pumps
Heat pumps draw energy from the air to provide heating, cooling and hot water from one system, without fossil fuels.
Why a heat pump?
- Lower investment cost
- Lower energy consumption
- Healthier heating and cooling
- High operating reliability
- Use of local, renewable energy
How it works
A heat pump moves heat from the air into the building through a refrigerant cycle. The cycle has four steps:
Evaporation
The refrigerant absorbs heat from the outside air and evaporates.
Compression
The compressor raises the pressure and temperature of the vapour.
Condensation
Heat is released into the building's heating and hot water circuit.
Expansion
Refrigerant pressure drops and the cycle begins again.
Applications
A single outdoor unit can serve both the heating and cooling circuit and your domestic hot water.
- Underfloor heating
- Panel radiators
- Fan coils (cassette, wall, floor, ducted)
- Domestic hot water
